Do you have visible varicose or spider veins that affect your confidence and limit your wardrobe choices? Are you interested in improving the appearance of these superficial veins and restoring your confidence in your appearance? Jon Ric International Health and Wellness offers sclerotherapy treatments to reduce and eliminate the appearance of varicose and spider veins and their corresponding symptoms.
What are varicose veins?
Varicose veins are typically a bluish color and are characterized by their abnormal size and protrusion from the skin’s surface. They are most commonly found on the back of the calves and inside of the legs, but can also form on other parts of the legs. These abnormal veins usually form as a result of damaged or defective valves in the vein that prevent the proper blood flow through the vein. Varicose veins can be accompanied by a variety of symptoms, including itching, leg swelling, aching pains, and easily tired legs.
What are spider veins?
Spider veins usually occur closer to the skin’s surface and are characterized by their red or blue color and spider web appearance. These abnormal veins are most often just a cosmetic concern and are most commonly found on the legs. Spider veins can vary in size and appearance depending on the patient and their location.

What is sclerotherapy?
This medical procedure involves injecting a medicated solution that irritates the inner lining of the veins into designated veins, which causes the veins to swell and collapse. The targeted veins will gradually disappear from view as the body reabsorbs the collapsed veins. Sclerotherapy treatments usually last for 30 to 45 minutes and multiple varicose and spider veins can be treated in a single sclerotherapy treatment session. There is minimal downtime associated with this treatment; most patients are able to return to their normal activities, with a few restrictions, within 24 to 48 hours of their sclerotherapy procedure.
Benefits of Sclerotherapy
- Minimal downtime
- Quick treatment sessions
- Reduces the appearance of visible varicose and spider veins
How many Sclerotherapy treatment sessions will I need?
We typically recommend at least two to four Sclerotherapy treatment sessions in order to achieve optimal results of sclerotherapy procedures. The number of treatments needed to achieve optimal results can vary from patient to patient depending on the number of veins being treated, the severity of the veins being treated, and the patient’s desired results.
What are the potential side effects of Sclerotherapy?
You might experience some temporary side effects like swelling, stinging, discomfort, or bruising at the injection site immediately following your sclerotherapy procedure. Some patients may also experience some swelling in their feet and/or ankles after a sclerotherapy treatment. These side effects are typically mild and usually subside on their own within a few weeks of your procedure.
