You have been suffering with hair loss since your early 20s. Your hair loss has pretty much taken its toll and has left you with a major bald spot on top of your head. You have wanted to get some type of treatment for this condition, but the use of creams and other products really did not do the job so well. When you stopped using them, the problem continued to progress. You have imagined that maybe hair transplant surgery would be in your future, but the thought of having a strip of skin and hair removed from the back of your head was never quite the idea you had in mind—especially if it left a noticeable scar behind. You wanted to look normal, with a full head of hair, not like a victim of someone assaulting you with a weapon to the back of your head. Fortunately, the ARTAS robotic hair transplant procedure exists, and it could work for you!
The Procedural Differences
Since the 1950s, hair transplant surgery has been a viable option for replenishing the hair on top of the scalp. It has long been known that the hair on the back and sides of the head have follicles that are not as vulnerable as the ones on top of the head. Significant advancements in hair transplant surgery eventually lead to the popular FUSS method of hair transplants. In this method, the strip of skin and hair being removed, where the head would need to be stitched up, was taken and broken into 500 to 2000 grafts of hair to be transplanted in the scalp region where the balding has taken place.
In the case of an ARTAS robotic hair transplant, the robotic procedure does not involve taking a strip of hair from the back or sides of the head. Rather, the ARTAS robotic procedure collects hairs in a far more natural way, harvesting them in their natural groupings. This allows our team to then go through, as with the FUSS method, and transplant the grafts. However, the ARTAS harvesting method helps to allow us to transplant hairs individually to make the hair come out looking more natural when it fully grows in place.
The ARTAS robotic hair transplant procedure is gaining in popularity, and for good reason. You can learn more about it during a consultation at Jon Ric International Health and Wellness in Edmond. Contact us today to book an appointment!
